After each event is a list of the colour coded courses available – and at the bottom of the page is a description of what each colour means. These courses require the participant to find every marker or control on their map. C5s are just small-scale informal events used by beginners or for training purposes. C4 events are called colour coded or district events and include a range of courses suitable for orienteers of all abilities.

Score events have a number of controls to be visited in any order in a stated time limit – you just get as many as you can. Harder controls might carry a higher score – but be warned – if you go over the time limit you could loose some of those precious points!

Night events are usually done by the light of a head torch – even easy areas become hard at night!
