The fantastic success of the Malvern Initiative last Autumn has led to the formation of the Malvern Mini-League – a low-key, friendly and fun series of orienteering events on and around the Malvern Hills in 2006.
These monthly, Saturday lunch-time, events will consist of four courses, yellow, orange, green and blue (check on fixture page for what each colour means). Registration will be form 11.45 – 12.45pm and starts from 12.45-2pm. There will be plenty of help on hand for anyone who wants it.
But there are some new things on offer too. The Mini-League is a competitive series of events for those who like that edge. There are 6 events in the league and your best four results will go to make up your cumulative score. At the end of the series there will be a fun, social event and prize giving.
Prizes will be awarded to the best man, woman, boy, girl and family group (to include at least one junior and one senior) on each course.
There will also be optional coaching up to orange level at each event for juniors and adult beginners from 2- 3pm but numbers will be limited to 25 so booking is recommended (01684 577062 lester@mado.org.uk).
The cost of the league events will be £3 per adult and £1 per junior. Coaching is £2 per adults, £1 per junior and £3 per family.
These events will all use electronic punching which has been made possible by generous grant funding from the National Lottery’s Awards for All and the BBC’s Sport Relief.
